Unit 5: Reflection


This unit’s meditation was leaps and bounds better for me that the last meditation. I really enjoyed how the focus on the breath helped to keep me in the moment. Another revelation I experience was observing the thoughts that came up when I was focusing on my breath. This point was most important for me because it helped me be more aware of what I am thinking. By becoming a keen observer of my thoughts and actions, I will be able to achieve the next level of calm consciousness. Thought creates my reality so it helps to know what I am thinking. Not having someone guiding the meditation as frequently like in the loving-kindness meditation, was also very helpful.

I heard of using a focal point during meditation to help bring one back to center. In the past, I have said “OM” to keep me centered when my mind wandered off to thoughts about my grocery list.  Using the voice to keep focused and clam the mind helps me because my voice resonates positive vibrational energy throughout my body. Thoughts, lights, colors, and sounds all transmit information/energy at very high rates.  As our consciousness expands, so does our ability to heal through the use of vibrational and meditative practices.

Deepak Chopra once said, "Every cell in our bodies is eavesdropping on our thoughts." With that said, we need to be more conscious about what we are thinking thus more aware of what we are manifesting in our bodies and in our lives!

    I see you too found that the Subtle Mind Exercise much easier to follow than Loving Kindness. I enjoyed this one more because its flow is easier; I am hoping that the next level can be grasped just as easy if not easier.

    Such a deep perspective on this experience! I really appreciate your insight here and gives me hope for reaching the level of oneness you have achieved. I have noticed an improvement with my focus over the several exercises we've completed, but nothing quite like this! I feel my mind is noisy often.. how do you quite yours down? Have a great day :)

    I liked how you were able to observe your thought process as you concentrated on your breathing. You were aware of what was being processed in your mind as you calmed your mind and focused in. This is very important to be conscientious of your thinking.
    I wish I could of benefited this much from the exercise, however, it was actually more difficult for me compared to the loving-kindness exercise. Hopefully, the exercise to come will be a little better and I will be able to get out as much as everyone else.

    Your statement really stuck with me about how your thoughts create your reality. It is true. By allowing myself to witness my random thoughts in stead of hold onto them and entertain every single one helps me to expand my awareness to true reality. I notice how some people become stuck in a strange "reality" that is clearly obscured and no matter what anyone else tells them, "they're wrong." I'm glad to be practicing these exercises that help us to expand our awareness so that we can truly witness life instead of living in fragments of random thoughts which tend to rule our lives.

    I quiet my mind through prayer and meditation. There are tons of books and videos on the practice of meditation and how one can get started. This class is very helpful as well for beginners.

    There really isn't a right way or wrong way to meditate, in my opinion, as long as the objective is achieved. People who knit find themselves in a meditative state. Quieting the mind, observing the thoughts and listening to the messages that some of the objectives.
